From open internet sources:
Matcha is an exotic type of tea originating from Japan and is highly valued by locals for its many beneficial properties. Matcha tea has been consumed by the Japanese for several millennia and has only recently reached European consumers, already earning the reputation of an exceptionally healthy product – a superfood. The tea is grown in a special way – tea bushes are covered from the sun several weeks before leaf picking to limit photosynthesis and increase amino acid accumulation. The young leaves, without stems, are dried in special dryers and ground for a long time on stone mills to a fine powder. Thanks to this processing, matcha tea has a very delicate, rich, harmonious taste and aroma. It resembles the taste of regular green tea but is much milder, without bitterness, slightly spicy and sweetish. Light fruity, sweet-milky notes join this flavor.
The beneficial properties of matcha tea are very high. A distinctive feature of this drink is that not an infusion of the plant is used, but the leaves ground into powder, so beneficial substances – vitamins, amino acids – are fully absorbed by the body.
L-theanine in matcha tea participates in the production of two mood-enhancing hormones – dopamine and serotonin. Consuming matcha helps avoid stress and lift mood.
The drink helps activate cognitive activity, improves concentration, and stimulates brain processes. Matcha tea is very useful for elderly people and those who require high mental activity.
Matcha is known to lower bad cholesterol levels, thereby improving cardiovascular system function.
Consuming matcha tea helps burn fat by activating metabolism.
In cosmetology, as an antioxidant, matcha tea protects the skin from ultraviolet rays and slows skin aging, and it can be included in cosmetic masks.
Of course, all beneficial compounds of matcha tea do not have medicinal effects. Consuming the drink with a reasonable attitude toward your body helps maintain good well-being and provides powerful preventive action, which is always better than treating a neglected disease.
